I may have mentioned this in previous blog entries, but since I returned home from camp, I have found it very hard to engage in a good, deep book. I discovered that I did not want to connect to the characters or get emotional over the situations they were in. I guess that I figured that I had enough going on in my own life to not want to add anything else to my plate.
This is why I started reading young adult fiction.
While I have read a few books back in the “adult world” (not xxx adult), meaning books written for people over 16, I have found myself being okay with this place that I have found myself right now. This is why I have started the books…
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants!
Yup, you heard it correctly. People, this is a book that I am enjoying pretty thoroughly, yet seem to find clever ways to hide in my bag at work (which is checked every time I leave the store) and become greatly ambiguous over when people ask me what I am reading: “oh just a book of short stories”…lies! Just thought I’d clear my blogconscious and vent a little of the hidden secret!
i did a book report to a nancy drew novel in sixth grade complete with playdough figures. it was a cross between a report and a diorama. nancy had huge lips.
And this is why you are my friend.
Don’t be ashamed! But don’t rent the movie, either. Even though it has a great cast. Really–they ruin anything good about the book. PS–the second book is my fave.
