The road to getting my teacher’s certification is long and painful. I am currently enrolled in an Algebra class at Houston Community College. This is so that I can fulfill my 6 hour requirement in math in order to even start my teaching certification. My first class was today and it sucked!
First of all, let me say that I have not taken any sort of Algebra in 9 years, I have not had Math of any kind in 6 years and this teacher covered about two months of a high school Algebra course in less than an hour and a half. I am overwhelmed, crying, angry and bitter. Part of me wants to stick this out and prove that I can do this alone (alone meaning me, a study group and maybe 2 tutors). Part of me wants to run and get a job in corporate America and say screw teaching, it was too hard! Another part of me wants to buy the new MacBook Air!
BTW, Rob would totally help you. He often tries to make me do algebra for fun.
I hope it’s easier to get a teaching credential in Texas than it is in California.
