- So, I just saw Sweeney Todd about an hour ago. My head is spinning with thoughts, repulse and intrigue.for those of you that do not know the story of Sweeney Todd, it is a story of revenge and murder. Basically, Johnny Depp’s character has been wronged and he comes back to town years later to kill all of the people that have wronged him. He does go about this killing in a most unconventional way (slitting throats while being disguised as a barber and baking them into pies!).
- The gore was fairly intense, I kept turning to my friend Matt when someone would bite the big one. I decided that the slitting of throats is not something that I want to become desensitized to, call me old fashioned.
- I will say this, Sweeney Todd, which is directed by Tim Burton, was beautifully shot, greatly acted, superbly sung (did we mention it was a musical?) and the atmosphere of the whole thing was unbelievably chilling.
- Half of me loved it and the other half (the moral half) just wouldn’t let me give in completely to loving it. So clearly, I am torn.
Slit a throat, bake a pie…whatever
